Kimpton Miralina Resort & Villas Debuts as Scottsdale’s New Desert Retreat |
A Reimagined Oasis Blending Sonoran Elegance with Modern Luxury |
Inbox Optin Media of Scottsdale presents the Kimpton Miralina Resort & Villas, which has officially opened its doors in Scottsdale, offering a fresh take on desert luxury. This transformation of the former Scottsdale Plaza Resort introduces a harmonious blend of Sonoran-inspired design, innovative culinary experiences, and expansive outdoor spaces.
Upon arrival, Scottsdale guests are welcomed into a light-filled lobby featuring communal seating, a central bar, and a striking textile installation by artist Mariella Motilla. The design encourages social interaction, with complimentary morning coffee and evening wine hours fostering a sense of community. The resort's centerpiece is the multi-tiered Canyon Pools, comprising three pools, sun decks, cabanas, and a spacious outdoor bar area. The grounds also showcase the Desert Reveries, sensory installations like wind chimes and misting oases, culminating in sculpted stargazing structures perfect for nighttime relaxation.
Originally established in 1975 as the Scottsdale Plaza, the 40-acre property underwent a $42 million renovation led by Highgate and Trinity Investments. The first phase of this extensive transformation debuted in January 2026, marking its official rebirth as a Kimpton property.
The 224 renovated guest rooms reflect Kimpton’s signature style, drawing inspiration from the Sonoran Desert's palette of whites, tans, and dusty rose accents. Features include gradient wall coverings mirroring the desert sky, custom furnishings, and cloud-like sculpted headboards. Notably, double rooms offer two king beds—a generous touch for friends traveling together. For those seeking private outdoor space, the 36 one-bedroom casitas provide living rooms, wet bars, and fenced-in patios suitable for pets. While some larger villas and residences are slated for renovation throughout 2026, many remain available for booking.
Dining at the resort is anchored by Hecho Libre, an all-day restaurant helmed by Chef Wes Avila, known for his innovative approach to Baja and Sonoran cuisine. The menu features wood-fired meats, seafood, and inventive dishes like smoky jumbo prawns and braised cabbage with Caesar aioli. The poolside Cima Bar offers casual fare, including poke bowls and burgers, with mixologists crafting specialty cocktails like the passionfruit margarita. An additional dining concept is anticipated to open by year's end.
Spa Miralina provides a comprehensive wellness experience with treatments ranging from body cupping to desert stone massages. Amenities include a dry sauna, outdoor cold plunge, and hot tub reserved exclusively for spa guests. The spa's experienced therapists utilize premium product lines to ensure a rejuvenating experience.
Situated in the upscale Paradise Valley, the resort is a short drive from downtown Scottsdale's vibrant galleries, restaurants, and nightlife. Nearby attractions include the family-friendly McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park and the renowned trailheads of Camelback Mountain.
The resort's staff, a blend of long-time employees and new hires, are dedicated to providing enthusiastic and attentive service, ensuring each guest's stay is exceptional.
The resort offers 13 ADA-accessible rooms and five hearing-impaired (TTY) rooms, ensuring inclusivity for all guests.
Embracing local culture, the resort hosts complimentary programming, including monthly events featuring Phoenix-area artisans. Guests can participate in activities like cocktail classes led by local distilleries, incense-making workshops, and tequila tastings. Fitness enthusiasts can join signature Centre Movement classes led by former Phoenix Suns dancer Jordan Hill, offering a dynamic workout experience.
