Interesting Facts
  • Scottsdale is home to many luxury resorts and spas, making it a popular destination for relaxation and rejuvenation.

  • The city is known for its vibrant arts scene, with numerous galleries, museums, and art festivals showcasing a wide range of artistic styles.

  • Scottsdale is also famous for its golf courses, with over 200 in the area, including some designed by renowned golf course architects.

Mon Cheri, the chic champagne café and charcuterie bar that opened its doors in early 2024, has unexpectedly closed in Old Town Scottsdale. The establishment, known for its European-inspired ambiance and shareable plates, had become a favored spot among locals and visitors alike.

The closure comes just months after the venue gained notoriety due to an unusual incident. In October 2025, a couple was caught on surveillance cameras breaking into Mon Cheri, engaging in intimate activities, and stealing cash, an iPhone, and a bottle of liquor. The incident, dubbed the 'amorous burglary,' led to the arrest of the suspects in November 2025. Despite the media attention, the restaurant continued operations until its recent shutdown.

The sudden closure of Mon Cheri is part of a broader trend in Old Town Scottsdale, where several longstanding establishments have recently shuttered. In May 2025, the Italian Grotto closed its doors after 42 years of service. Similarly, STK Steakhouse ceased operations in June 2025, leaving its two-story venue vacant.

However, the area is also witnessing a wave of new developments. The AC Hotel Scottsdale Old Town, a European-inspired hotel, is set to open in February 2026, offering 168 rooms and a rooftop pool with panoramic views of the city. Additionally, Above All Else, a new rooftop bar and restaurant, is slated to debut in early 2026, aiming to bring a fresh 'wow factor' to the local dining scene.

The city of Scottsdale is investing $40 million in a revitalization plan for Old Town, focusing on infrastructure improvements and enhancing the overall experience for residents and visitors. This initiative includes the construction of new parking structures and the introduction of new events to attract more foot traffic to the area.

As Old Town Scottsdale undergoes these transformations, the community remains hopeful that the blend of new ventures and city investments will usher in a vibrant era for the historic district.
