Richard Romane Takes Helm as General Manager at JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa

Richard Romane has been appointed as the new general manager of the JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa, a 453-room luxury resort nestled in the heart of Paradise Valley, Arizona.

 

With nearly 30 years in the hospitality industry, Romane's extensive background includes leadership roles at several prominent Marriott International properties.

 

Most recently, he served as general manager of the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown, where he led Arizona's largest hotel through a significant transformation aligned with Sheraton's global brand vision.

 

Under his guidance, the hotel achieved record revenue and gross operating profit, alongside top-tier associate engagement and guest satisfaction scores.

 

Before his tenure at Sheraton, Romane was the resort manager at the JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa, overseeing operations for the 950-room property.

 

During this period, he navigated the challenges of pandemic recovery, implemented innovative revenue strategies, and led major resort enhancements totaling over $60 million.

 

Romane's career also includes general manager positions at The Westin Michigan Avenue Chicago and the Fort Collins Marriott in Colorado, as well as leadership roles at the Denver Marriott City Center and other key Marriott properties nationwide.

 

His proven track record in developing high-performing teams and elevating guest experiences positions him well to continue the legacy of excellence at the JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa.

 

Originally from Colorado, Romane holds a degree in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Social Sciences from Colorado State University.

 

He is actively involved in the hospitality community, serving on several local nonprofit boards, including Visit Phoenix.

 

Residing in Phoenix with his wife, two daughters, and their mini-goldendoodle, Romane enjoys traveling, skiing, photography, and golf in his leisure time.

 

His appointment comes at a dynamic time for Paradise Valley, which is experiencing significant developments.

 

Notably, the former Paradise Valley Mall is transforming into a mixed-use lifestyle center, introducing new dining and retail options to the area.
