Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Tackles Camelback Mountain Near Scottsdale |
Health and Human Services Secretary's Weekend Hike Sparks Local Buzz |
Over the weekend, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. embarked on a challenging hike up Camelback Mountain, a renowned peak near Scottsdale, Arizona.
Local hiker Matt Larson recounted his unexpected encounter with Kennedy on the trail. "It made my day; it was cool," Larson shared. He initially mistook the group surrounding Kennedy for a rescue team, but soon realized the identity of the distinguished hiker.
During the hike, Kennedy was spotted wearing denim jeans, a choice that sparked online discussions given the day's high temperatures. On July 19, 2025, Scottsdale recorded a high of approximately 107°F (41.1°C). Despite the heat, Kennedy completed the strenuous ascent, impressing fellow hikers with his endurance.
Camelback Mountain is a popular hiking destination, offering two main trails: the Echo Canyon Trail and the Cholla Trail. Both are known for their steep grades and rocky terrain, attracting hikers seeking a rigorous workout and panoramic views of the Phoenix metropolitan area.
While the Department of Health and Human Services has not confirmed the purpose of Kennedy's visit to Arizona, his presence on the trail left a lasting impression on those who crossed paths with him. |
