Scottsdale Community Invited to Celebrate and Honor Beloved Pets in a Cherished Tradition |
Desert Mission United Methodist Church is set to host its annual "Blessing of the Animals" event on Saturday, November 1, at 9 a.m., welcoming all community members and their cherished pets to the church grounds at 7373 E. Dixileta Drive in Scottsdale.
Scottsdale area attendees are encouraged to bring their pets, ensuring they are on leashes or in carriers, to receive a personal blessing and a special treat. For those with shy animals or pets that have passed away, bringing a collar, toy, or photograph is welcome as a substitute to receive a blessing in their stead.
A dedicated remembrance table will be available for photos, providing a space to honor and reflect upon the lives of departed animal companions.
Rooted in a tradition associated with St. Francis of Assisi, known for his profound connection to all living creatures, the Blessing of the Animals offers a simple yet heartfelt ritual: a prayer of gratitude and a sign of blessing for each animal and their human companions.
