Chef Matt Carter has expanded his acclaimed modern Latin restaurant, The Mission, to the East Valley with a new location in Gilbert's Epicenter at Agritopia.
The Scottsdale Mission's third Valley location officially opened its doors on February 9, 2026, bringing its signature candle-lit ambiance and agave-focused bar program to Gilbert.
Located at 3150 E. Ray Road, Suite 180, the restaurant occupies the space formerly held by Belly Kitchen & Bar, which closed at the end of 2024.
Chef Carter expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "We’re beyond thrilled to finally open our doors in the East Valley with our very first Gilbert location. This has been a long time coming, and we’ve already felt an incredible amount of excitement and support from the Scottsdale community."
The menu features The Mission's renowned dishes, including tableside guacamole, house-made tortillas, and the indulgent "Whole Roasted Pig Out" brunch feast.
Additional offerings include duck carnitas empanadas, a chipotle Caesar salad, pozole, and chorizo porchetta cooked over a pecan and mesquite wood-fired grill.
The agave-centric bar program offers a variety of margaritas, signature cocktails, and flights of tequila and mezcal.
The restaurant's design, crafted by Mendil + Meyer, features a front dining area with large curved windows that create an airy patio feel, while the main bar and dining area exude a darker, more dramatic ambiance with crystal chandeliers and a Himalayan salt brick wall.
A private dining room is also available, accommodating up to 40 guests.
The Mission Gilbert is open daily for lunch and dinner, with weekend brunch service to follow.
Operating hours are Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Reservations can be made through the restaurant's website.
With this expansion, Chef Carter and his business partner, Brian Raab, continue to grow their portfolio, which also includes Zinc Bistro and Fat Ox.
The addition of The Mission to Gilbert's dining scene offers residents and visitors an opportunity to experience elevated Latin cuisine in a vibrant and inviting setting. |
