Meet Cosmo, a thoughtful and intelligent 3-year-old Husky in Scottsdale who has overcome significant challenges on his journey to find a forever home.
Initially, Cosmo was placed on the e-list due to his withdrawn nature and tendency to avoid people at the shelter.
He wasn't aggressive; he simply needed patience and understanding.
One volunteer described him as having "cat energy": curious, playful, and happiest when allowed to warm up on his own terms.
Recognizing his potential, a dedicated foster family stepped in to provide the care and environment he needed.
In his foster home, Cosmo has gradually come out of his shell.
Introduced slowly to the other dogs, he displayed a desire to lead the pack.
He's playful, affectionate, and cherishes time with his humans.
Want to win him over? Just show him a tennis ball!
Cosmo is a high-energy pup who enjoys walks, fetch, belly rubs, cuddles, and, most importantly, quality time with his people.
He responds well to verbal corrections and is continually improving his manners, including working on not jumping up when excited.
His intelligence shines through; Cosmo is potty trained, crate trained, and knows several obedience cues, including sit, stay, down, shake, and place.
Cheese is the fastest way to his heart; there's no evading the cheese tax with Cosmo!
While he interacts well with dogs outside the home, living with multiple dogs has been a bit overwhelming for him, as he tends to want to be in charge.
Cosmo would thrive in a calm, structured home that can provide both physical activity and mental engagement.
An adult-only home or one with respectful teens (13+) is recommended.
Given his preference for leadership, he would likely do best as an only dog or with one calm, easygoing canine companion.
His compatibility with cats is unknown.
Cosmo is absolutely ready to be the stellar center of your universe!
Scottsdale has been recognized as the most pet-friendly city in the U.S., offering numerous dog-friendly amenities and a welcoming community for pet owners.
In 2025, Maricopa County Animal Care and Control (MCACC) maintained a no-kill status, achieving a save rate of over 94%.
To support this mission, MCACC expanded its foster program, launched a new evaluation and enrichment team, increased off-site adoption events, and opened a third adoption center in Scottsdale, adding 46 new kennels to the shelter system.
These efforts reflect the Scottsdale community's commitment to providing loving homes for dogs like Cosmo.
If you're considering dog adoption in Scottsdale, now is a great time to welcome a new furry friend into your life.
Cosmo is ready and waiting to meet you! |
