Ed Morales, a former Marine Recon and police officer, spent years in high-stress roles, only to later face the hidden toll of accumulated trauma and constant vigilance on his mental health.
As he grew more isolated and struggled with anger and disconnection, Morales realized trauma among first responders was widespread but rarely acknowledged.
Through meditation, yoga, and martial arts, he found recovery, then dedicated himself to helping others, earning a master’s in social work and developing resilience programs within law enforcement.
Now a therapist at Hunkapi Programs in Scottsdale, he offers therapy that combines his experience with innovative horse-assisted services, helping clients gain self-awareness and heal.
Morales works to break the stigma around mental health in first responder culture by focusing on performance and resilience, aiming to equip them both for the job and for life beyond it. Read More... |
Scottsdale is taking bold steps to secure its future water supply by partnering with golf courses on a major alternative water source initiative.
Driven by mounting concerns over the dwindling flow of the Colorado River, the city is investing in a $30 million infrastructure project that will span nearly 60 miles.
Water for the city and its golf courses will be piped in from the Harquahala Valley, west of Buckeye, a plan that has been over two decades in development.
Construction is slated to begin in 2027 and is expected to take up to two years, with costs covered entirely by the participating golf courses.
Scottsdale is also boosting its long-term water reserves through land acquisitions and storage credits in the Harquahala Valley, underscoring its commitment to sustainable water management.
These efforts ensure a more resilient water future for Scottsdale’s residents and businesses. Read More... |
